How many times a day do you forget what you came in the room to do? Loose your train of thought because of an incoming message? Find yourself lost in internet rabbit holes? There are so many distractions in our day that act as portals to transport us into these mindless landscapes at the expense of being in the present moment. When I find myself in this "reactive" state led by external factors, I am neither productive nor fulfilled. The act of staying in the present is a conscious effort of wrangling focus and takes practice, practice, practice. Rather than succumb to portals that take you elsewhere, these artworks explore portals that bring you home to yourself – and back to the present.
