LIVE STUDIO TOUR 4/2  +  STUDY HALL Q & A FUNDRAISER 4/4 + NEW GRATITUDE MOBILE VIRTUAL CLASS 4/15 & 4/22
First off, I wish everyone out there good health during these times of uncertainty. After donating the unused gloves and masks in my art supply, I've been asking myself what else can I do??? As an artist, naturally I turn to art to relieve anxiety, express feelings and satisfy a need to create beauty among chaos and so that is what I bring to you. Please find the following events to distract you, raise funds for a local business, and create with a focus on gratitude.

LIVE STUDIO TOUR 4/2 AT 5:00PM CST

First, a distraction. Join me this Thursday at 5:00pm CST on Instagram @juliepelaezstudios for a LIVE video tour of my home studio. Get a behind the scenes look at my creative space, process and see what I'm currently working on. Those of you who follow me know that I'm usually pretty private (and admittedly tech-challenged!), but since times are changing, I'm adapting with new ways to connect - including what will be my first live stream so here we go!

VIRTUAL STUDY HALL 4/4 3:00-4:00PM CST
100% OF PROCEEDS BENEFITING CRAFT

Second is a win-win: you get your alcohol ink questions answered while also showing some love to CRAFT, the local business who has hosted my workshops over the past 2 years and is currently impacted by the COVID-19 shutdown. It will look like this: I'll be available Saturday 4/4 from 3:00-4:00pm CST via google hangouts to give feedback, answer questions and chat alcohol inks. No reservation is required. I'm asking for a suggested donation of $10  -- 100% OF WHICH GOES TO CRAFT. Go HERE for more event info including link.

Third, a focus on what we still have going for us despite how different our day-to-day might currently be. This no-experience required activity was based on a rewarding exercise from my recent gratitude-focused exhibition and I'm thrilled to keep the gratitude going, especially at a time like this. The backstory: patrons were asked to anonymously write down something they were grateful for on the back of painting strips that were then hung from the gallery rafters. With statements ranging from “Waking Up Every Day” to “Beer”, reasons for gratitude were raining down, visually lifting spirits through bright colors, collective voices and highlighting the many things we have to be thankful for. It was truly moving to all those involved. Now you (and your family) can create your own version of a gratitude mobile to hang in your home as a daily reminder of gratitude. This activity is for ages 8+ and materials can be delivered to your doorstep locally or else shipped outside of Austin. Students will learn the wash and drip techniques to incorporate into their piece. Kits are $60 and classes will connect via Google Hangouts. You can register HERE for either 4/15 or 4/22 class, both at 5:00pm CST.

Thank you, thank you for all your support. Wishing you health to you and your loved ones. We are in this together!  Best, Julie
