ART INSPIRATION //
Have you ever felt like a ball in a pinball machine, constantly reacting to whatever bumps up against you vs. consciously choosing your course? This unconscious state is sometimes how I would describe my racing thought patterns, with the acknowledgement that I wasn't as much in charge as I'd like to be. Reading Michael A. Singer's "Untethered Soul" brought insights, comfort, and offered a way to take the reigns on the mind - to cut straight through the clutter to find stillness and the clarity of the present moment. He exposes the default patterns and inner monologues we all experience in a way that is so eye-opening and perspective-altering. What's interesting is that I had actually read this book 3 years prior, but it didn't connect to me in the same way. I must have not been ready to receive the message, but this time around, it was powerfully relatable, inspiring, and impactful. If there's one book you read from the suggested list, it's this one.
SYMBOLISM //
The layered busy background represents the outside noise and distractions around us, while the raised shapes are the thoughts that pop up inside our head, layered on top of one another as they compete for our attention. In the midst of the shapes painted blue inside is one that is painted pale yellow - the moment of clarity that we have to work to seek out before it slips away.
