My “Quarantine Confessions” series was inspired by the unsettling, jolting change in daily life in the wake of the pandemic. I was struck by the duality of thread as a symbol: both as a feeling like I was hanging on by a thread – as well as the global unity taking place from our common thread of experiencing the virus. The execution of using thread to literally tangle, disrupt, overwhelm, intersect and unite shards of painting strips was my expression of these events and the subsequent emotional upheaval. The painting strips represent the upended, shattered scraps of our previous normal and the piecing together of a new one, while the titles expose observations and confessions of living a life in quarantine.
